Details
Your guide meets you at your hotel in Stone Town and you walk together through the streets to the local boat dock. The walk is short and gives you a chance to see daily life in Stone Town before heading to the sea. Once at the dock, we board a boat for the short ride to Prison Island. Enjoy views of Stone Town’s coastline and the turquoise water along the way.
Upon arrival, your guide leads you on a tour of the island. Visiting the historic prison building. Learn about how the island was once used as a quarantine station and prison and hear stories from the past.
Next the tortoise sanctuary. Meet the famous giant Aldabra tortoises that have lived on the island for over 100 years. You’ll learn about the conservation program and have a chance take photos with them.
Having time to relax on the island’s white sand beach, as the sun glinting on the water, we set sail back to Stone Town for a thrilling boat ride along the coastline. Your guide then walks you back to your hotel, ending a day full of history, wildlife, and island magic.
